Chicago  18th May 1860

               Dear Lincoln

It is not my wish to

               further talk of matters here

               as the telegraph has proceeded

               my information.   I want     very

much to return by your         city.

But at    present I cant say

that I will be able to do so, I

               have a dispatch saying that

I was mobed in 1855 by my

               enemies & that on necessity

I will be mobed by the friends

               of Lincoln.    I am Excited

               & Exhausted by speaking ??

“Excuse me, it is the happiest

               day of my Checkered life

                           Truly yours

                                         Delahay
